Panache To Launch UTM For SMBs
Panache Infotech is launching FireFilt, a unified threat management (UTM) solution for the Indian SMBs.
To be distributed next quarter, the company will first take the UTM to cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad,Cochin, Indore and Ahmedabad. “A national distributor will distribute the UTM to his network of resellers,” said Akash Sutane, Vice President for Panache Infotech.
Based on Panache's firewall, the UTM adds intrusion detection/protection on the open-source software. Other features include the ability to allow data traffic based on media access control (MAC) addresses and an embedded antivirus engine to scan all inbound and outbound Web, e-mail, and FTP traffic for malware.
“Panache is the largest manufacturer of thin client, embedded technology and small form factor desktops in India. Now when we talk about computing solutions, we refer to the entire range involving secure computing environment in an organization. And therefore, we stepped into the UTM domain,” said Sutane.
Admitting that the FireFilt would have features similar to other UTMs available in the market, Sutane said that the USP of Panache is that it is a one stop shop to fulfill all the computing needs of customers. “We are certainly in a position to do so. SMBs would find it easier to interact with one vendor rather than searching for different vendors for different solutions.”
Panache is launching three SKUs: FireFilt PUTM BC Basic, FireFilt PUTM Value and FireFilt PUTM UBX Pro. While FireFilt PUTM would support seven to 15 nodes, the PUTM UBX Pro would be for unlimited users. “We are already running beta tests for FireFlit UBX Pro on 650 nodes,” Sutane said.
He added that the company is planning to dedicate two percent of its turnover for marketing activities which will include mailers, live demos at kiosks, etc. |
